Background:
Just 17 days after a 7.8 earthquake struck Nepal, the country has been hit by two powerful aftershocks: a magnitude 7.3 earthquake at 07:05:19 UTC and a magnitude 6.3 earthquake at 07:36:53 UTC, both on May 12, 2015. (source) The 7.3 magnitude quake was centered 18km SE of Kodari. The 6.3 was centered 33km NNE of Ramechhap. (source)
The 7.3 earthquake was one of 11 aftershocks that struck within a 34 km radius of Kodari, Nepal. Three other earthquakes struck within 33 km of Ramechhap, Nepal and one struck 5 km SSW of Zuobude, China (67 km E of Banepa, Nepal). (source)
More buildings have collapsed, and new landslides are blocking roads and highways. Some international Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams are still in country and have been requested to support the authorities with search and rescue, and military assets are conducting aerial assessments. (source)
The number of deaths and injuries varies. According to Nepalese government spokesman Minendra Rijal, at least 48 people have died and another 1,261 have been injured in Nepal, and 32 districts have been affected. At least 17 people in India have died according to Home Ministry spokesman Kuldeep Dhatwalia. Sixteen of those deaths were in Bihar state, with the other in Uttar Pradesh. The earthquake also affected China, killing a woman in Tibet, according to China’s state-run Xinhua news agency. In the same report, local police officer Wu Aijun said that landslides in the Gyirong area in Tibet. (source)

- (12 May) As of 9:30pm, vehicles are moving again on the Araniko Highway, which was blocked after a house collapsed and fell on the road near Sanga in Bhaktapur. (source)

- (12 May) From Amateur Radio OPs: At 1200Z, Indian amateur radio operator, VU2JAU reported that there is no power in Kathmandu and that 3 multi-story buildings have collapsed and that 3 to 4 people are reported dead. The reporting was heard on 14.210MHz, where amateur radio operators in India have decided to locate in order to assist in emergency communications operations.

- (11 May) The Red Cross and a Nepalese telecom firm launched an emergency texting service on Monday to send out real-time updates on aid distribution and weather warnings. The free messaging service will target users according to their location, offering them potentially “life-saving” information on weather and health hazards in time for the approaching monsoon. - (12 May) Although damaged from earlier earthquake, relief needed is still needed in Jymrung, Ward no. 4. Around 300 houses have yet to receive aid. There are a lot of children under 3 years old and food is running out. (source)
Dolakha District (Janakpur)

- (12 May) The Lotus Children’s Home in Balaju-16 needs help. 15 children are sheltering in a tent with two adult caregivers outside of the home. They have food and water but need a medical and well being check. One adult caregiver needs a high blood pressure check and medicine, and the other needs a diabetes check. Not certain if the diabetic is Type I or II or if medicines are needed. Children’s OTC, flu, diarrheal, and cold meds are needed as well. No one has been able to reach the contact person recently. - (12 May) A six-storied building near the Samakhusi junction in the capital city which had been marked with a red sign, signaling it to be very dangerous with major cracks, fell down and hit a cyber cafe in the neighborhood. - (12 May) As of 11 May, the far west region of Gorkha was still unreachable due to landslides blocking roads. At least 150 donkeys, used to carry loads into the mountains, have died. Currently only expert climbers can reach the area. The latest earthquakes may have exacerbated the situation in this area that was still waiting for help.
