Jose Beitia has been interested in emergency management his whole life, after experiencing several hurricanes while growing up in Puerto Rico. This interest led him to work with and support the U.S. government’s responses to international disasters for eight years.
Having worked in more than five large-scale disaster responses, and on disaster risk reduction activities in more than 15 countries, Jose comes to us with a very diverse skill set. Over his career, he has worked as a systems trainer, a technical communications specialist, and a regional operations manager, among other roles for the Department of Commerce, U.S.
Agency for International Development, and the Department of State. As an insatiably curious person, Jose enjoys learning anything about any subject. When he’s not hard at work, he spends his time with his wife and two daughters in Northern Virginia.
